Welcome to my profile. I'm a Kent-based photographer, with a full clean driving license and own car, so I'm within an easy distance to London and happy to travel further afield for the right role. I graduated in 2013 with a BA (Hons) in Photography, and have been committed to building a career in the industry ever since. During my studies, I developed a strong technical foundation across both analogue and digital SLR photography, working with formats ranging from 35mm film through to 5x4 Hasselblad and 10x8 large format cameras. I gained hands-on experience in black and white film processing and printing, colour darkroom printing, and enhanced my post-production skills through training in Adobe Photoshop and negative scanning. Alongside this, I was trained in studio lighting and equipment, and took part in weekly seminars that helped refine my visual practice and critical thinking. My final year project focused on masculinity and the male body, which led to a continuing interest in men’s fitness, fashion and portrait photography, with a particular emphasis on editorial work. While at university, I attended a photographic assisting workshop, followed by a further assisting course in London, as I recognised assisting as an essential route into the industry. Since then, I have assisted on a range of shoots, primarily editorial commissions for magazines, alongside an e-commerce product shoot. These have taken place both in studio and on location, giving me a solid understanding of how shoots are structured, the equipment required for different briefs, and the importance of efficiency and professionalism on set. I also enjoy photographing events and have captured many live music performances on the stages at prides such as Pride In London and Brighton & Hove Pride. I am keen to build long-term working relationships with photographers and to become a reliable, regularly booked assistant. I am known for being calm, organised, proactive on set and, as I’m frequently told, for making a very good cup of tea when clients are in.

In the years I have worked in many roles, from lighting assistant, to certified Phase One digital tech, producer, and even location manager and fixer in Italy. In the past 20 years I have had the pleasure to work extensively with some incredible photographers like Jason Bell, Coppi Barbieri, Laurence Passera, Julia Fullerton Batten, Gary Salter and Luigi and Iango, for whom I currently am Lighting Director I am based in UK but often travel for work.

I started to have an interest in photography when I lived in Spain, at the time I was only 12 years old and buying a DSLR was quite pricey, so to begin with I used a simple point and shoot and tried my best. As I got older there wasn't really any courses in any colleges or schools in my area, they didn't really have the funds to kit students out with camera's and the appropriate equipment, so I pleaded my father If I could move back to the UK. I am now in my second year of college studying Film and Media Production at the Brit School of Performing Arts and Technology, I have A* grades both in GCSE Media and Photography and I have recently been accredited with a Distinction in AS Photography. I am confident with using Digital and 35mm set-ups and I am currently delving into 120 film too. During my AS course I was taught how to set up lighting for studio shoots and to use Lightroom and Photoshop for retouching purposes. Now I am looking to get my foot into the door as I will be finishing college soon and university doesn't sound ideal to me.

Hi I'm James (or Jamie whatever you prefer!) I have over 7 years of experience assisting in the photographic and advertising industries. I've returned to assisting on set after managing Alva studios for over three years, during my time there I've accumulated a wealth of technical knowledge, the ability to work under immense pressure and being dedicated to getting the job done no matter the time frame. Prior to this I used to shoot headshots and assist a few photographers. I'm familiar with a large variety of film camera systems from 35mm, 120 & 5x4 Field cameras, but have most frequently worked with Nikon F range, RZ67, Pentax 67 cameras. I'm darkroom trained in both B&W and Colour printing and development, while also tinkering with alternative processes such as wet plate collodion (I'm an absolute nerd for anything technically challenging :-) ) In addition to processing film I run a film scanning service, feel free to ask about any samples if you're interested.

I am 21, and working as a freelance photographer every now and then. I have been interested in imagery for a while, and decided to study photography from A Level. Since finishing I have spent three years wandering around the globe, buliding up a wide photographic portfolio, and teaching myself about the skills needed. Earlier this year I began working for prominent photographer Ram Shergill, as his photgraphic assistant. My duties included lighting, location hunting, transport organisation, model choices, setting up and cleaning the studio, as well as uploading images using Caprute One Pro software. I loved my time assisting, asI gained many important skills, and learnt a lot about what is involved with being a leading fashion photographer. As a London based freelance lighting technician and digital operator. Broad and advanced lighting experience in HMI, Brises and tungsten. Fully knowledgeable of Profoto, Elichrom and Broncolor flash. Plenty of on-set rigging and de-rig. I am a confident Digital operator able to provide shoot set up and support, handle Capture one work flow and file management including back-up and on set retouch work. I am a 30 year old female living in North London and I have been dabbling in and out of photography since I was 17 but currently I work as a freelance contemporary dancer. In the past I have mainly photographed the arts, dance, theatre and music as this is the industry that I have been creatively working in for the past 10 years and where most of my interest lies. I have worked with both film and digital cameras, developing my own film and photographs and editing using Photoshop and Lightroom software. I would like to assist and learn more about the photography industry and how to create my own photography career in the future, exploring new techniques and interacting with creative people.
